Integrating Somatic Psychotherapy and EMDR Therapy 2-Day Introductory Training

This highly acclaimed introductory training is 2 very full days of dynamic presentation, discussion, demonstration/video, and brief experimental practicums, learning how to integrate Somatic Psychotherapy and EMDR Therapy.

A somatic approach to utilizing EMDR enables you to track resiliency accurately moment-by-moment, and thus pace your therapy more effectively.  This puts you closer to your client’s process to be able to notice and work with nervous system responses that are driven by parts of the brain that do not have verbal language.

You will learn practical ways to use your “noticing” to engage your client’s awareness of their body responses, which facilitates their organic “drive for completion.”

Learn to:

  • Use detailed somatic awareness to both expose client’s processes, and to facilitate working through challenges, in ways that more cognitive approaches do not.

  • Learn more effective somatic tracking to follow nuanced dynamics and patterns, build resiliency, and keep the work-paced within the "window of tolerance."

  • Recognize subtle dissociation, as it appears in everyday sessions, and how to work with it.

  • Understand how teachings of neuroscience can direct our observations and interventions, from tracking levels of activation to manifestations of developmental challenges.

  • Integrate the effectiveness of both somatic therapy and EMDR to engage with your clients' natural propensity for resolution and growth.

  • Learn what it means to truly "trusting the process" through the most difficult moments in therapy.
