Teasing out Process • Therapist’s pressures • Shame
This training builds on the understandings and skills from NP 1 & 2 and is designed to expand on participants’ development as a process-oriented somatically-focused therapist. The presentations and discussion, exercises, demonstrations and practicums will focus personally on our challenges of being present with our own process, while attending to the moment-by-moment dynamics of our clients' processes. As with previous trainings, integration with EMDR and other uses of bilateral stimulation is emphasized.
What makes me a better therapist?
Teasing out "process" to make it accessible. Specifics of fine tuning tracking. More noticing, less figuring out
Value and power of awareness - even more?
Therapist's presence and process
"Not knowing," Part 42, 658
What's my job? Therapist positioning to make the work possible
Tracking collaborative alliance as an on-going process
Finding leverage and traction on what seems like “black ice" and the “tiny protest-shrug” dynamic
Working with shame - ours and our clients'
Trusting the process, moment-by-moment
We will work with these themes through lecture and discussion, experiential exercises, demonstration sessions, and practicums with feedback
